I’m back in the office today, and I thought I’d give you my top tips for marketing your small business online.

1. Short Form Video

Short-form video is leading the way across socials with reels for Instagram and Facebook, and shorts on YouTube as they continue to try and compete with the dominant TikTok.

So what’s the best way to create short-form videos, In my opinion, create long-form blog posts and video content which you can then create small-form video content. Make sure the content you are creating is of value to your customers.

2. Authentic Content

Ensure the content you create for socials and your website is as authentic as possible. With the rise of AI content, platforms are getting saturated with AI content, which to be honest is still pretty terrible.

3. Voice Search

Another thing to consider is the rise in voice-activated devices. People are now using their voice only to search for answers via their phones, smart home devices and car devices.  So make sure keywords and content on your website are things people would naturally say. For example, you wouldn’t say “Best donut shop.”, you would more naturally say “where is the best donut shop in Toowoomba”  Also make sure you’re adding blog content and pages on your website that are answering the 5W and H. Who What Where, Why, When, and How will help with search and voice search.

4. Google Business Profile

Making sure your Google Business Profile is set up and optimised with up-to-date information including making sure your Name, Address, and Phone are consistent across all of your platforms and directories listing.

5. Website and Email List

And the final thing that has remained true ever since I’ve been doing digital marketing is to have a strong website where the content on your website is helping customers get to know like and trust you, and where you are adding regular valuable content through additional pages and blog posts. Also having an email list where you can send that valuable content on a regular basis to keep top of mind so when they are looking for your services they will think of you.
